DRAFT NEEDS: OT, WR, QB, EDGE, CB

The Browns have two first round picks - number six and number 24 - and have glaring needs at WR and OT, two of the deepest positions in the draft with multiple prospects who have earned first round grades. WRs Carnell Tate / Ohio State, Makai Lemon / USC, and Jordyn Tyson / Arizona State are all possible selections at pick 6. If Cleveland decides to draft an OLT at pick 6, Spencer Fano / Utah would be the likely choice. Other prospects to keep tabs on amongst WRs include Zachariah Branch / Georgia, Omar Cooper / Indiana, and KC Concepcion / Texas A&M. OTs to watch at pick 24 include Caleb Lomu / Utah, Kadyn Proctor / Alabama, and Monroe Freeling / Georgia. With the remaining eight draft picks, the Browns should consider adding an EDGE. Prospects to watch include Max Llewellyn / Iowa, Malachi Lawrence / UCF, and Joshua Josephs / Tennessee. Adding another CB would also make sense and prospects include Tacario Davis / Washington, Ephesians Prysock / Washington, and Treydan Stukes / Arizona.

PROSPECT REPORTS

Makai Lemon / WR / USC

5111 / 192 lbs / 8.6” Hands / 30.4” Arms / 73.2” Wingspan

Average height, length, and size. Lines up both out wide and in the slot but may be best suited to playing slot in the NFL. Quick and agile with good shiftiness in space. Good release technique off the LOS against press coverage. Decisive and precise route runner who sinks his hips and stakes his place. Adjusts route based on coverage and understands how to leverage coverage. Quick and separates easily against man coverage. Technician with excellent body control. Understands how to leverage coverage in zone. Very explosive and can take the top off the defense. Reliable hands, even after contact. Despite lack of great size, uses body well to snag the pass at the catch point. Tough and excels over the middle of the field. Fights back to the ball and competes at the catch point. Good YAC ability due to his speed and effort. Physical and strong runner after the catch – lowers shoulder and fights for the extra yard. Speed and agility make him effective carrying the ball. Very effective blocker. Dangerous kick and punt returner. 2025 Biletnikoff Award winner. Not overly explosive or sudden at the break point. Average leaping ability – competitive but loses contested catches too often. Pro comparison – Amon-Ra St. Brown / Detroit Lions.

STRENGTHS

• Understands how to leverage coverage; very explosive

Carnell Tate / WR / Ohio State

6022 / 192 lbs / 10.2” Hands / 31.6” Arms / 78” Wingspan

4.53 40 / 1.61 10-yard split

Ideal size for an outside WR with the height, body mass, and length desired. Long arms, large wingspan, and big catch radius. Very sound route runner who sinks hips and creates separation at the break point. Understands how to leverage the field and find seams in coverages. Possesses big, soft hands and snags the ball cleanly. Very good concentration and can catch the ball through contact. Very good boundary and sideline awareness. Physical and strong and difficult to knock off his route. Very good leaping ability – skies and high points the ball against tight coverage. Wins at the catch point due to athleticism and strength. Very good deep speed, can burst through pursuit angles, and outrun DBs to the end zone – much faster than his combine 40 time would seem to indicate. Possesses ideal size for perimeter blocking – strong hands to control the DB on perimeter runs but he needs to sustain blocks better.

STRENGTHS

• Ideal size for outside WR – height, body mass, and length desired

• Very sound route runner – sinks hips and creates separation at break point

• Big, soft hands; very good concentration through contact

• Very good leaping ability; wins at catch point; very good deep speed

WEAKNESSES

• Needs to sustain perimeter blocks better

Monroe Freeling / OT / Georgia

6076 / 315 lbs / 10.6” Hands / 34.6” Arms / 84.4” Wingspan

4.93 40 / 1.71 10-yard split / 33.5” Vertical / 9’7” Broad

Ideal measureables that every NFL team looks for in an OT – Ideal size and length, big, wide frame, desired mass, grapevines for arms with a gigantic wingspan – need an Uber ride to get around. Huge mitts. Good twitch and first step quickness – gains preferred blocking position consistently in both the run and pass game. Waist-bender – which reduces his power and makes him susceptible to a strong bull rush when the defender can get under his pads and out leverage him. Plays with a wide base and very good balance – rarely on the ground. Deceptively strong and physical and gets good movement in the run game – when he leans on the EDGE, he gains movement. Effective drive blocker when he keeps his pads low. When he tires his pads rise and he struggles to redirect in the passing game. Good lateral agility and kick slide – difficult to beat with a speed rush. Moves well laterally and is effective blocking in space in the screen and outside running game. Climbs to the second level and gets good fits on LBs in space. Lacks desired experience with only one year of starting experience in Athens – still raw and needs continued strength development. Hand use needs development – punches have desired power but placement is inconsistent. Needs to improve grip strength so that he can latch on, extend, lock out, and control the EDGE the way his body and game suggest he should. Possesses tremendous upside and could be developed into a perennial Pro Bowl player after he adjusts to the speed of the NFL game.

• Ideal measurables – size, length, big wide frame, grapevines for arms, gigantic wingspan

• Good twitch and first-step quickness – consistently gains preferred blocking position

Caleb Lomu / OT / Utah

6062 / 313 lbs / 9.4” Hands / 33.3” Arms / 82.6” Wingspan

4.99 40 / 1.74 10-yard split / 32.5” Vertical / 9’5” Broad

Possesses desired NFL size – tall, big frame, and acceptable mass. Owns long arms and a large wingspan. Very good balance with a wide base. Plays with natural leverage and knee bend. Excellent athlete with the lateral agility and a smooth kick slide – ideal feet and agility for protecting a QB’s blindside. Very good twitch displayed at the snap – usually initiates contact in the run game. Very good athlete with excellent lateral agility and range – effective leading on pulls and is extremely effective in climbing to the second level, engaging the LB, and neutralizing him in space. Throws a strong punch with consistent placement. Needs to improve grip strength to improve his ability to sustain blocks better – sometimes loses late in the rep. Effectively neutralizes the pass rush when he extends and locks out – good upper body power. Works well in double teams and combination blocks out to the second level. Smart and aware and looks for work when not engaged. Needs to improve lower body strength to better resist the bull rush. Projects as an immediate starting OLT as a rookie. Participated in the NFL Scouting Combine after the 2025 season.
