2025 Draft Strategy

The Commanders provide proof that drafting the right QB can set you up for immediate success. After shocking the top seeded Lions on the road, the Commanders pushed the Eagles for three quarters and gave them a better game than the Chiefs did in the Super Bowl. During the off season, Washington traded for OT Laremy Tunsil and immediately filled the biggest gap in the Commanders' offense. Entering the draft, Washington's offensive line still needs reinforcements and with the 29th pick, they could have a chance to select an IOL like Grey Zabel (North Dakota State) or Donovan Jackson (Ohio State). The Commanders could also use an EDGE like Nic Scourton (Texas A&M) or Jordan Burch (Oregon) or an IDL Darius Alexander (Toledo), Tyleik Williams (Ohio State), or Joshua Farmer (Florida State). In the latter part of the draft, the Commanders should select one of the talented crop of RBs available such as Kaleb Johnson (Iowa), TreVeyon Henderson (Ohio State), Dylan Sampson (Tennessee), or Bhaysul Tuten (Virginia Tech) and take a couple DBs to better compete with Philadelphia's talented WR corps.
