2025 Draft Strategy

Detroit finished the 2024 season with the best record and the #1 seed in the NFC playoffs but could not overcome the rash of injuries suffered along the defensive line and Washington's rookie sensation Jayden Daniels in the NFC Divisional round playoff game. The Lions are still loaded and remain a Super Bowl contender but they need to improve their roster depth to avoid a similar fate this coming season. Detroit can select the best player available at #28 or trade back but if the Lions draft for need, selecting an EDGE would bring back the most value due to the quality and depth of pass rushers available in this draft. EDGE rushers who may be considered includes Jordan Burch (Oregon), Landon Jackson (Arkansas), and Nic Scourton (Texas A&M) Although LB is not a great need, Detroit would be unlikely to pass on Jihaad Campbell if he were available at the end of the first round. In later rounds, the Lions should improve their depth along the offensive and defensive lines and consider adding another CB to a young and promising DB room.
