2027 NFL Draft Preseason Rankings - WRs

The potential 2027 WR class could be special in the number of true difference making WRs who are ready to take the NFL by storm. Twelve of these prospects have earned tentative first round grades for next spring's draft. This class is loaded with big, long, and athletic receivers who profile as immediate starters and future Pro Bowlers. 

1. Jeremiah Smith / Ohio State

2025 Statistics

87 rec / 1,243 yds / 14.3 avg / 12 TD / 2 Drops

The term "generational talent" is thrown around a lot in scouting circles but regarding Smith, the term has found a home. Smith possesses prototypical size (6'3" / 223 lbs), elite speed and explosiveness, superb leaping ability, excellent hands, rare fluidity and elusiveness, and a combination of speed and rare running power to gain yards after the catch. Smith is the number one rated prospect for the 2027 NFL Draft and could push Arch Manning for the right to be the first selection of next spring's draft.

Area for Improvement - Smith has no real holes in his game but is prone to the occasional concentration drop and needs to refine securing the ball before accelerating after the catch.

2. Charlie Becker / Indiana

2025 Statistics

34 rec / 679 yds / 19.9 avg / 4 TD / 0 Drops

Becker started last season as an unknown backup and ended it by being the most dynamic offensive weapon on a loaded IU offense that included 2026 first round pick, WR Omar Cooper. Becker's combination of size (6'4" / 207 lbs), hands, length, speed, leaping ability, and YAC ability puts him in the athletic freak category. No WR in the nation has a greater upside than Becker.

Area for Improvement - Becker is now the Hoosiers' number one WR and he will be expected to provide new QB Josh Hoover with a reliable outside receiver. Incoming transfer Nick Marsh (Michigan State) is a welcome addition but the focus of every secondary will be on neutralizing Becker this fall.

3. Cam Coleman / Texas

2025 Statistics

56 rec / 708 yds / 12.6 avg / 5 TD / 4 Drops

Athletically, Coleman is a similar prospect to Smith as a big (6'3" / 204 lbs), fast, and strong outside WR that creates mismatches and is a home run threat with the ball in space. Coleman transfers into Austin from Auburn to become one half of the nation's most dangerous WR combo with Ryan Wingo (see below), giving Arch Manning the premiere weapons to exploit overwhelmed coverages this season.

Area for Improvement - Coleman's effort and focus seemed to be a bit hit and miss last season at Auburn but the thought is that being on one of the nation's best teams will improve his consistency and approach this season.

4. Mario Craver / Texas A&M

2025 Statistics

59 rec / 917 yds / 15.5 avg / 4 TD / 4 Drops

Craver is the top potential slot receiver that figures to be available for next spring's draft. Although undersized (5'9" / 165 lbs), Craver is extremely explosive and sudden and can hit a seam and take it 80 yards for a TD in a wink of an eye. Craver has reliable hands and creates mismatches in space against virtually any DB. Craver has a game similar to Tyreek Hill (NFL Free Agent).

Area for Improvement - Craver's lack of size makes durability a long-term concern because playing at 165 lbs is difficult to handle at the NFL level.

5. Ryan Wingo / Texas

2025 Statistics

54 rec / 834 yds / 15.4 avg / 7 TDs / 7 Drops

Wingo is another one of the big, premium WRs that are possibly available next spring and his combination of size (6'2" / 214 lbs) and athleticism make him a potential number one WR in the NFL. Wingo will team with Coleman to give SEC defensive coordinators nightmares this fall.

Areas for Improvement - Wingo needs to improve his concentration and secure passes in traffic more efficiently this coming season in Austin.

6. KJ Duff / Rutgers

2025 Statistics

60 rec / 1,084 yds / 18.1 avg / 7 TD / 3 Drops

Duff possesses extraordinary size (6'6" / 225 lbs) and wingspan that normally is seen in TEs. But unlike TEs, Duff has the speed, agility, and movement skills to uncover against man coverage on the outside. Duff turned down big offers from national title contenders to return to Piscataway for his junior season, a surprising decision. Duff looks like a near-lock to go in round one next year.

Areas for Improvement - Duff will face continuous double coverage and defensive schemes that are oriented towards neutralizing him. How he adjusts and plays through this attention, will be closely monitored by scouts.

7. Duce Robinson / Florida State

2025 Statistics

56 rec / 1,081 yds / 19.3 avg / 6 TD / 2 Drops

Robinson has a fantastic combination of size (6'6" / 230 lbs), wingspan, and downfield speed to become a true threat in the NFL. The USC transfer had a productive junior season in Tallahassee despite inconsistent QB play and figures to be a better NFL player than college player.

Area for Improvement - QB play has not significantly improved this season in Tallahassee as journeyman transfer Ashton Daniels is set to take over the QB duties. Most of Robinson's catches are contested and scouts will watch to see if he can create more separation in his pass routes as a senior.

8. Reed Harris / Arizona State

2025 Statistics

39 rec / 673 yds / 17.3 avg / 5 TD / 0 Drops

Another long, well-built outside WR (6'5" / 217 lbs) with a huge frame and catch radius, Harris has huge hands and rarely struggles hauling in receptions, even through contact. Harris is deceptively fast and quick and uncovers well against man coverage. Expect Harris to rapidly rise up draft boards as the season progresses.

Area for Improvement - Harris was the number two WR at Boston College last year, behind B.C.'s all-time receiving leader, Lewis Bond (Texans), but will be the focus of the Sun Devils' receiving attack this season. How he fares being the focus of the defensive game plan and being doubled on the majority of his pass routes will be fascinating to watch.

9. Ryan Coleman-Williams / Alabama

2025 Statistics

49 rec / 689 yds / 14.1 avg / 4 TD / 13 Drops

A much hyped recruit, the 5-star WR (formerly Ryan Williams), RCW seemed to regress as a sophomore last season as his confidence clearly faltered and his level of play slipped. But RCW is extremely quick, elusive, and explosive and his upside is as good as any WR in the nation.

Areas for Improvement - Coleman-Williams led the nation in dropped passes with 13 and clearly lost the confidence of QB Ty Simpson and the coaching staff as Germie Bernard (Steelers) and Isaiah Horton (Texas A&M) became the go-to receivers for the Tide last season. RCW needs to significantly improve his hands as a junior or continue to see his stock tumble.

10. Ian Strong / California

2025 Statistics

52 rec / 762 yds / 14.7 avg / 5 TD / 1 Drop

Strong possesses NFL size (6'4" / 210 lbs) with a huge wingspan and soft, reliable hands where he dropped only one pass last season at Rutgers. Strong is a physical mauler after the catch whose combination of size, power, and speed makes him a threat anytime he touches the ball.

Areas for Improvement - The majority of Strong's catches are contested and he gains little separation in his routes. Strong's lack of elite quickness may be the biggest deficiency in his game.
