2025 NFL Draft Analysis - AFC East

Buffalo

Draft Needs - CB, IOL, S, WR, K

Draft & UDFA Grade - B

The Bills entered the draft with a clear priority to improve the defense. Specifically, improve the pass rush and coverage ability in the secondary. Buffalo drafted CBs Hairston, Strong, and Hancock to improve the secondary's ability to line up in man coverage and shut down WRs down field. Hairston and Hancock match up well in man coverage while Strong brings the size and length needed at outside CB. Sanders and Walker provide run stuffing chops to the DL with Sanders flashing closing burst as an inside pass rusher. Jackson will try to provide the Bills with a reliable and consistent pass rush off the edge.

The Bills did not draft any IOL (although Lundt may get a look inside during training camp) but did sign one of the best UDFA IOL in Bayer, who has experience at both center and guard. Pressley and Gosnell both offer good size and an impressive catch radius. Porter and Jenkins are likely playing for a chance on Buffalo's practice squad to begin their NFL careers.

Miami

Draft Needs - S, IDL, OT, TE, RB

Draft & UDFA Grade - B+

The Dolphins entered the postseason needing to improve their interior run defense and improve their pressure rate. Miami doubled down on IDL Grant and Phillips to try to accomplish those tasks. Trader is an ascending talent who will ty to replace Jevon Holland who departed in free agency. Gordon will soak up some of Raheem Mostert's carries and produce between the tackles but not replicate Mostert's explosiveness. Ewers fell to the seventh round but he has starting potential. He will have time to develop as long as Tua can stay healthy.

After not drafting a WR, the Dolphins went buffet-style by signing four UDFA WRs. Armstrong has an intriguing combination of size and speed and Henning is an NFL-caliber returner. But keep an eye on Price, who is a solid possession receiver with reliable hands and was IU's go-to receiver in the clutch. Conyers is a huge TE with soft hands and he works to finish as a blocker. Adams and Robinson were overshadowed on their college teams but offer skill sets that can play in the NFL.

New England

Draft Needs - OT, EDGE, IOL, LB, WR

Draft & UDFA Grade - A

The Patriots entered the 2025 NFL Draft needing to protect franchise QB Drake Maye better. After using three draft picks on offensive linemen, including two on projected starters Campbell and Wilson, consider that box checked. Coach Mike Vrabel is bringing in a physical approach based on running the ball. Not only did the Patriots draft dynamic OSU RB TreVeyon Henderson in the second round, they added priority UDFA RB Lan Larison and two FB prospects, indicating a change of strategy in Foxborough. Swinson and UDFA Elijah Ponder are both ascending talents that hope to give New England some additional pass rushing juice.

UDFA Chism is an absolute steal as the next in line of impact Patriot slot WRs. He's a quick and decisive route runner with reliable hands. Blankumsee has fantastic game speed and he has an excellent chance of making the practice squad. Conley is an experienced ACC starter who will fight for a roster spot this fall.

NY Jets

Draft Needs - IOL, OT, TE, S, EDGE

Draft & UDFA Grade - A-

As much conjecture as there was involving the Jets selecting Penn State TE Tyler Warren at #7, the need for a reliable ORT was a much bigger need. Membou played right tackle at Mizzou and has the length and feet to excel at OLT. His upside is enticing and he fills a huge need. Taylor being available in the second round makes the Membou selection look even smarter since Taylor grades out as a starter from day one as a rookie. Moore replaced Brian Branch as Alabama's slot CB and offers many similar skills. Baron could find a role as a pass rush specialist as a rookie.

Cook has an excellent chance of making the 53-man roster as a developmental QB. He has a strong arm and is a very good athlete with plenty of mobility. Edwards is immensely talented but underachied at Michigan. However, he has flashed big time speed and game breaking ability. Pritchett is an uber-productive but undersized WR who will try to make the Jets as a slot receiver. Jordan Clark, son of former Steelers safety Ryan, is an undersized slot CB who lacks timed speed but is ultra-competitive and physical in run support.
