2025 Draft Strategy
No team has been hit harder by free agency this off season than the Niners, who have had to jettison a lot of veteran talent to get under the salary cap. And although San Fran has many needs, none are pressing and the Niners could go a number of ways with the eleventh pick of the draft. After trading Deebo Samuel to the Commanders, the Niners could go WR at #11 but an impact defensive player or a offensive linemen may be better use of the pick. Whichever top EDGE prospect on the board could be a target with Mike Green (Marshall), Shemar Stewart and Nic Scourton (Texas A&M), or Mykel Williams (Georgia) as possibilities. LBs Jalon Walker (Georgia) and Jihaad Campbell (Alabama) are versatile players that can play in space on run downs and rush off the edge on passing downs. If the Niners decide on the OL, Armand Membou (Missouri) would be an ideal candidate to start his career inside at guard but eventually slide outside and succeed Trent Williams at OLT as soon as next season. On days two and three of the draft, the 49ers should look at adding some speed in the secondary and additional bulk inside at IDL.
