2025 Draft Strategy
The immediate future of the Colts' franchise, and certainly the job security of the personnel department and coaching staff, hinges on the QB competition between Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones. But it is clear that the talent level on Indy's roster needs to be upgraded if the Colts hope to contend for the AFC South division title. The back seven of the defense needs a significant upgrade and with the 14th pick of the draft, plenty of quality options figure to be available. Indianapolis should consider drafting LB Jihaad Campbell (Alabama), who would improve the speed in the back end and add a dynamic pass rushing threat. Other prospects the Colts should consider in the first round are CB Will Johnson (Michigan), IDL Walter Nolen (Ole Miss) and Derrick Harmon (Oregon), and S Nick Emmanwori (South Carolina). After the first round, Indy needs to draft additional speed to the LB corps while also adding some CBs and safeties with man coverage ability to the secondary. Offensively, depth could be improved at RB, WR, and TE and there is a need for a young center to be developed after veteran Ryan Kelly left via free agency.
